One day, during the early pandemic months, I opened up my front door to find a mysterious box addressed to me sitting on my stoop. It contained a dozen cans of #Spam, with no indication where they came from (I mean, other than from Amazon).
They turned out to have been sent by my mother on a whim, as a joke. She also sent a Spam cookbook, but that came in a different box the next day.

I have four of the small books of Gene Gonzalez' (Cafe Ysabel, Manila) Pinoy Classic Cuisine series (inihaw, adobo, ensalada, and pancit), and Romy Dorotan's "Memories of Philippine Kitchens" (Cendrillon/Purple Yam, NYC).
