Ok, you want to play hard ball? Bring it on says China!
China is expanding export controls for rare earths from not only on raw materials but also to cover intellectual property and related technologies.
The restrictions require government permission/licensing for the export of technology used to mine, process or recycle rare-earth minerals or make magnets from it.
Chinese citizens are also prohibited from supporting overseas activities related to rare earth extraction and magnet manufacturing without approval from Beijing.
China accounts for nearly 70% of the world’s rare earths mining. It also controls roughly 90% of global rare earths processing. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/oct/09/china-steps-up-control-rare-earth-exports-national-security-concerns #China #USA #Tariffs #Trade #RareEarths #ExportRestrictions #TradeNegotiations
