Aggressive Ameisen, giftiger Bärenklau – Sind eingeschleppte Arten immer ein Problem?

"

While Arne Victor Garvi's work originally focused on species from all dry regions of the world, the conclusion eventually came that exotic species, whilst degrading the ecosystems, are not any better adapted to the Saharo-Sahelian climate than indigenous ones. He therefore switched to working exclusively with native plants.

Merlin called them Red Junglefowl. iNaturalist called them Domestic Chicken. The bird didn't change — just the taxonomy each platform was willing to accept.

As New England waters warm, invasive sea squirts move in

Researchers say they're seeing more of these colorful blobs growing on docks, but they're not the only invasive marine species that could be spreading along New England coasts. And climate change may be partly to blame.

Chunqiang Wei et al. found that #Plant species of higher #IntrinsicGrowthAbility suffered greater negative #Soil effects, plant traits such as intrinsic growth ability, other than #PhylogeneticRelatedness, could be reliable #Predictors for plant responses to #SoilBiota, the soil biota on average had greater negative impacts on the #ExoticSpecies, particularly the #PerennialSpecies, than on the native species.

Certain invasive exotic species, such as the red swamp crayfish, are harmful to our environment because they transmit crayfish plague to native species. But there are also non-native fish and crayfish that are not harmful.
