EU executive softens commission curbs for financial products

The European Union's executive body said on Thursday it would propose only a partial ban on banks offering cash incentives to financial advisers who have sold their products, after fierce opposition from industry and key EU states such as <a href="/world/europe/germany-joins-battle-against-eu-ban-financial-product-commission-2023-01-16/">Germany</a>.

@[email protected] @joostvanspanje Considering the fact that the President of the #EUCommission is appointed by the #EUCouncil (made of the elected heads of government of the 27) and the #EUParliament, hundreds of millions voted for the #EUCommison President, just like the Prime Minister of the UK or that of any other parliamentary system nation. Even the President of the US is NOT directly elected, but by an electoral college, in some cases the President-elect received less votes than his opponent.

@euractiv Shifting from unanimity to majority will imply the reform of the #EU with the adoption of an elected, or parliament named, executive to substitute the current #EUcommison, also the creation of a #Territorial legislative chamber, a Senate, to substitute the current #EUCouncil. The #EU has reached its limit of integration under its current structure, any further advances, particularly in budgetary issues, will never be accepted by many #EUmembers and by most of its population.
