I didn't realise until recently that we had Ravilious pottery in the art gallery so I went in search of it today - rather lovely:

Took Landscape in Sunlight by Elizabeth Fair to the favourite restaurant Cardamomo in #Leiria (center of #Portugal). Everything is always so delicious, thank you Cardamomo!

Also, thank you to Dean Street Press for republishing Fair's books. This one is being a delight😍 (also, stunning choice of a cover)

Delighted to have acquired this Eric Ravilious original lithograph from a book from 1938. It's not signed but still...it's lovely. It will be taking pride of place somewhere in the house.

It's called Model Ships.

The Ravilious Hill Figure Collection - Rather Good Art

A set of 6 rather good Eric Ravilious postcards, featuring a set of hill figures from the south-east and south-west of England, all painted in 1939, and intended to illustrate a children's book he was working on for Puffin.

Sussex Landscape: Chalk, Wood, and Water

My parents moved to Chichester after they’d both retired a couple of decades ago. It’s never struck me as a particularly exciting town. My father died in 2015 and my mother died two years ago this coming Saturday, so I don’t tend to visit these days.

Lovely, thank you. I'm just listening to part of Suite for Timothy, which on YouTube is illustrated with Eric Ravilious paintings (a big favourite of mine), fitting perfectly with the mid-century character of her music.

One of my favourite watercolour landscapes of one of my favourite local walks - The Causeway, Wiltshire Downs, by Eric Ravilious from 1937 (it’s a watercolour looking up Hippenscombe towards Chute’s Causeway). He served as a war artist, and was the first British war artist to die on active service in World War II when the aircraft he was in was lost off Iceland. #EricRavilious #downlands
