What happened with SB131 and what we can do...

California leadership failed to keep their commitment to fix the worst elements of SB 131

Industrial projects ranging from lithium battery plants to chemical processing to semiconductor manufacturing will be constructed throughout CA with NO environmental review or mitigation

Communities, including their schools, will be left completely unprotected from pollution from these facilities, including lead, arsenic & PFAS (forever chemicals)

SB 131 also fails to protect habitat for endangered & threatened species. Advanced manufacturing projects will be entirely exempted even if they are located on critical habitat

The public won’t be notified of the projects’ impacts to imperiled species & there will be NO mitigation measures to prevent projects from destroying habitat...
