It's really unfortunate to see that @simplex go the Tokenization/NFTs route to fund the project, and also choose Ethereum (which was 70% pre-mined by it's developers), inventing your own coin doesn't suddenly give it value (no matter what restrictions you place on it) not trusting the operators means you don't want to let go of control, you want a Token that only YOU can control, I'm not saying it's easy.. And I'm not saying I have the solution, but this ain't it.

This is what we call a beachhead.

If Florida, or any 1 state passes a law requiring a backdoor in Signal, the government now has a backdoor they can use anywhere, anytime.

Do we have an idea of how close #quantam computers are to factoring large numbers? Is it 5, 10 or 20 years away? Or do you think its likely that #RSA is broken and they can already factor hundred digit composites?
I've only got a basic understanding of these systems from Wikipedia articles

Apple pulls data protection tool after UK government security row

Customers' photos and documents stored online will no longer be protected by end-to-end encryption.

I'll never recommend Windows 11 over macOS and Linux.

Until BitLocker becomes optional after installing Windows 11, I'll die on that hill.

You do realise that a person gets #encyption for free when they #useTor, right?

You do not need to trust a exitNode the only thing they see is someone sending a packet to a proxy. It is specifically designed so that people can share sensitive communications and hide them from oppressive govts and the #jeffreyEpsteinClass.

If you don't trust the #openSource #freeLicence technology, that's fine. There's no need to justify that :)

Protect our Speech and Security Online: Reject the Graham-Blumenthal EARN IT Act

Senators Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) are pushing forward with their so-called “EARN IT” Act, a bill that will undermine encryption and free speech online. The bill will create a new government commission, dominated by law enforcement agencies, and give it unprecedented power over websites both large and small. Attorney General Bill Barr and the DOJ have demanded for years that messaging services give the government special access to users’ private messages. If EARN IT passes, Barr will finally get his wish—law enforcement agencies will be able to scan every message sent online. The EARN IT Act (S. 3398) is anti-speech, anti-security, and unnecessary. A key Senate committee is scheduled to debate the bill next week—we need to tell Senators to reject this dangerous proposal.
