Venerdì 20 marzo i fedeli musulmani si sono riuniti nella Grande Moschea della Mecca, in Arabia Saudita, per la preghiera dell'Eid al-Fitr, che segna la fine del Ramadan - il mese di digiuno e riflessione spirituale- di quest'anno nel Paese del Golfo. Anche gli Emirati Arabi Uniti, il Bahrein, il Qatar e il Kuwait celebrano la festività venerdì, mentre per altri Paesi come Malesia, Brunei e Indonesia l'Eid al-Fitr inizierà sabato 21 marzo. Le date diverse dipendono dalle variazioni nell'avvistamento della luna, che determinano la conclusione del Ramadan.

On Friday, March 20th, Muslim faithful gathered at the Grand Mosque of Mecca, in Saudi Arabia, for the Eid al-Fitr prayer, marking the end of this year’s Ramadan—the month of fasting and spiritual reflection—in the Gulf Country. The United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait are also celebrating the festival on Friday, while for other countries such as Malaysia, Brunei, and Indonesia, Eid al-Fitr will begin on Saturday, March 21st. The different dates depend on variations in the sighting of the moon, which determines the conclusion of Ramadan.
