So, the kakistocracy has decided the best way to deal with the #IranWar is to add more corn juice to our gasoline. And that's a problem.
Most of the gas labeled 88 at American pumps is #E10, 10% ethanol. And ethanol does indeed help make gas cheaper. But it is 33% less efficient, and in hot months dramatically increases smog.
Ethanol is also a hygroscopic solvent. Unless a vehicle is labeled "flex fuel", running 15% ethanol for more than a tank or two may cause damage to seals, rubber bits, and even aluminum. If your engine was manufactured before 2001, E15 can melt your valves. Literally.
It makes the car run less efficiently, produces significantly more #pollution, and can damage many existing vehicles on the market.
