My first project for #ScrapAlong2026 is another ribbed cap in helical knitting on double pointed needles. I can practically make these in my sleep now!
The yarn is leftover Lang Yarns Jawoll Superwash and Froehlich Wolle Special Blauband from my mother's stash and a mini skein from Woolen Boon.
This is truly comfort knitting.

As soon as I finished this orange ribbed cap, I cast on another from a dyed blank in a dark gradient. Once I separated the two strands, I knit the first 4 inches from one strand, then continued in helical knitting with the opposite end of the second strand. I *really* like the way it's turned out. Now that I have a total of 8 inches, I'm ready to start knitting the crown decreases.

A length of nicely knitted fabric has a certain allure, but eight inches of ribbing is enough for a cap. Nine is just too much. Now to work the crown decreases.

This Käänteinen cap - the public project I can post while knitting a gift I can’t - is coming along nicely. These are the first 1.5 of 9 inches in k3p2 ribbing. I like the way the variegated yarn has no color repeats or pooling.

Swatchy swatchy colors. 😀 Knitting tubes to determine gauge for the next sample of my Dignity Cap. DK yarn from my mother's stash (bottom) is heavier than more recent yarn like the 006 Highland and 015 Mamalade colorways of Jody Long's Alba DK. Curious. Maybe it's because the older yarn is from Norway and was made more than fifteen years ago.
