Meh. I do say that when you make things from your favorite colors of yarn, that combining the leftovers makes projects gorgeous. There are exceptions. This ribbed cap I'm making for #ScrapAlong2026 just doesn't bring me joy.

I'll frog back into the light beginning half and incorporate this unlabeled thrift store yarn. I think it's Austermann Step in colorway 18 Red Grey.

Nope. I started the crown of the first version but thought "nope" and frogged back to the first stripe. Reknit in narrower, neater stripes, I'm much happier with the result. It's my latest ribbed cap for #ScrapAlong2026, knit from four colorways of leftover fingering weight yarn.

It's an inside day today, but an opportunity to capture this combination of leftover yarn, helical knitting, and colorway pooling in a swirling #RibbedCap for #ScrapAlong2026

I look forward to seeing other yarn crafter's work soon!

Beach break. I finished this #RibbedCap of leftover yarn a day before the "official" start of #ScrapAlong2026. This one is sentimental…

I used the very last yards of a ball of soft green Zitron Trekking XXL 285, a gift from my mother when she taught me her method of knitting socks. Sixteen years ago.

My first project for #ScrapAlong2026 is another ribbed cap in helical knitting on double pointed needles. I can practically make these in my sleep now!

The yarn is leftover Lang Yarns Jawoll Superwash and Froehlich Wolle Special Blauband from my mother's stash and a mini skein from Woolen Boon.

This is truly comfort knitting.

Remember, any craft that uses yarn is included in this Scrap Along!

The first ribbed cap that I knit from a dark gradient dyed blank reached its new owner this weekend.

"It feels so nice. I'm excited to wear it. And I like the colors even more in person."

Appreciation makes gift knitting worthwhile. I don't think I could've chosen better colors for him if I tried!

Four stitches to go. Again.

Nearly finished with the second ribbed cap from a gradient dyed blank, featuring helical knitting beyond the lengths for brims.

1) I knit the last 4 stitches of the ribbed cap. I like it so well that a small part of me wished I hadn't knit it for someone else.
2) I rarely block hats, but this one needs it. Pizza boxes are my favorite material for making blocking tubes.
3) The drying hat's ribbing already looks much tidier.
4) I have enough yarn from the blank for a second, identical ribbed cap. I'm already 5 inches in. Three more to go before crown decreases.

As soon as I finished this orange ribbed cap, I cast on another from a dyed blank in a dark gradient. Once I separated the two strands, I knit the first 4 inches from one strand, then continued in helical knitting with the opposite end of the second strand. I *really* like the way it's turned out. Now that I have a total of 8 inches, I'm ready to start knitting the crown decreases.
