worstofbreed.net received two excellent additions to the archive recently. Thanks to Daniel and @stealthmusic for documenting the madness.

Both submissions have one in common: Excessive Granularity. We are observing teams drowning in repositories, pipelines, and YAML configurations, all in the name of "decoupling."

The premier destination for Resume-Driven Development, Over-Engineering, and Resume-Padding. Why build simple solutions when you can build a distributed monolith?

had a conversation this afternoon with a coworker about fixing an oversight in a single kafka producer. As we talked it out, we non-ironically began to posit that fixing the damn thing might require a brand new microservice, publishing new events from an entirely different, unrelated service, replicating/sharing a large collection of data across those services and perhaps some creative batching.

If that's not a warning sign of a fragile architecture, I don't know what is.
