Fanfic Recommendation📖🥴

https://archiveofourown.org/works/75896576

This ゲスコンビ fic is really gud! Major recommend if you enjoy dry humping, power play, and copious fluids. It has the best of needy, greedy Secco and lovingly cruel Cioccolatta. Definitely one of my top fave fics this year👍✨

Push it - Static X
https://youtu.be/2vObp0vBDOY?si=XvzlakFzalwidJZx
I HATED this song when I was first exploring Static- X discography. The only songs I listened to previously were their singles from the Queen of the Damned Soundtrack, so I was surprised their albums vs. their songs in the movie sounded so different. I've since warmed up to some of their typical music but "Push it" is the only song of theirs that I completely hated and then did a 180° and now I love it. It's his annunciation of the lyrics and the staccato beats that I like a lot 🤣

October- Evanescence
https://youtu.be/aPkqOBMm2-k?si=SHjBe_qVDqIQRZ-a
I never listened to anything of theirs pre-Fallen album. Their EP slaps ngl. Some songs feel verbose but the sound is killer, October in particular is my favorite.

i highly recommend La sociedad de la nieve (Society of the Snow) (2023) if you like wilderness survival films or are interested in the Andes planecrash. i really liked the focus this film had on the horrific and sublime experiences of day-to-day rather than drama between the group like Alive (1993). there are also really beautiful moments where they're grappling with making meaning of this experience. overall very touching, and it's cool to see cameos from many of the survivors in the film

A ★★★★ review of Society of the Snow (2023)

I really liked that this film focused much more on the experiential aspects of the team's survival. Ot felt much more visceral and sublime than Alive 1993 did. I also found it interesting that the film focused so much on Numa's perspective when he didn't survive. That decision really put more of the emphasis on day-to-day survival rather than the macho escape of Nando and Roberto. Very cool that multiple survivors cameoed in this too! It was touching to hear one of them reading off the names of all the survivors. I wonder if they find a sense of closure

I'm gonna lean into my feelings and #DecRec this article that has been stuck in my mind since I first read it in what... 2021? I probably reread it once a year.

"The Toxoplasma of Rage" is an article written by a psychologist in 2014 about how (or why?) the media has become so darn good at making people argue and being nasty with each other about the most unproductive topics, rendering people incapable of reaching reasonable agreements, thereby benefiting the corporations where this discourse happens.

The article uses various examples related to activism, from PETA, to police brutality, to Tumblr's social justice efforts.

Gonna share a quote that stuck with me: "It’s in activists’ interests to destroy their own causes by focusing on the most controversial cases and principles, the ones that muddy the waters and make people oppose them out of spite. And it’s in the media’s interest to help them and egg them on.."

#DecRec IDK, maybe everyone knows this nowadays, but when I learned it, it felt revelatory, so in case there are still people who don't know this one:

The inside-out burrito method of putting on a duvet cover:

Turn duvet cover inside out

Lay duvet on top

Fasten corners (if applicable)

Roll both together from end opposite end as zipper.

Pull the zipper ends around the package and zip.

My Fairy Ghost 4 eps, 8 mins

Gentle love story between two women -one a confident established painter, the other a writer still struggling to find her voice- emphasising how the support of another can help you find confidence in yourself. It's ultimately about taking risks, both in love and art. As befits a story about a visual artist, there's a beautiful, sensuous love scene too, one many directors could learn from.

Today's #anime #DecRec is about family~ This is a popular movie so you probably have seen this. If not, then here is me going, "it's good! watch it!"

Summer Wars
Koiso Kenji was invited to join Shinohara Natsuki (a schoolmate)'s grandmother's 90th birthday festivities as her fake fiance. While he was there, he received a strange coded message on his phone. By cracking it, he accidentally aided an attack on Oz, a virtual reality connected to the internet that is ubiquitous to that world (imagine Second Life, I guess, but also lots of societal functions rely on it). And now the world faces destruction....

What I love about this movie is all the family feels. How the family interacts with each other, how they resolve things with each other, all has a familiar warm feeling to it. Since it's winter solstice, and Christmas is coming up, I thought it'd be a good movie to rec.

edit: forgot to mention, hanafuda! it was fun to watch hanafuda fights

Summer Wars

OZ, a virtual world connected to the internet, has become extremely popular worldwide as a spot for people to engage in a large variety of activities, such as playing sports or shopping, through avatars created and customized by the user. OZ also possesses a near impenetrable security due to its strong encryption, ensuring that any personal data transmitted through the networks will be kept safe in order to protect those who use it. Because of its convenient applications, the majority of society has become highly dependent on the simulated reality, even going as far as entrusting the system with bringing back the unmanned asteroid explorer, Arawashi. Kenji Koiso is a 17-year-old math genius and part-time OZ moderator who is invited by his crush Natsuki Shinohara on a summer trip. But unbeknownst to him, this adventure requires him to act as her fiancé. Shortly after arriving at Natsuki's family's estate, which is preparing for her great-grandmother's 90th birthday, he receives a strange, coded message on his cell phone from an unknown sender who challenges him to solve it. Kenji is able to crack the code, but little does he know that his math expertise has just put Earth in great danger. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
