Gorgeously graphic and vividly pink-legged, Black-necked Stilts are one of my favorite bird species. This female was foraging in a shallow marsh while her mate took his turn sitting on the nest.

Birding opportunities are currently thin on the frozen snow and sleet ground, so @CTGT and I were quite excited to add this Lapland Larkspur to our lifer list last weekend. This non-breeding adult was hanging out with a Horned Lark that had a broken beak and a Dark-eyed Junco.
