The "Gratitude Point" sign overlooked a tidal marsh, often flooded, with Mount Tamalpais in Marin County in the background. The photo was taken in 2021, the sign has been removed.

@deepmud Definitely formidable! At another pond in Cape May where we saw this adult, we watched two adult Mute Swans swimming with their cygnet from a viewing platform. At one point, one of the adults got out of the water and chased off some Canadian Geese. Huge and powerful bird. Needless to say, the geese vacated the area. #MarshMadness #swans

Two springs ago we had the excitement of adding a lifer to our list when we saw a Sora adult and its three adorable all-black chicks.

Today for #MarshMadness I have a water stick bug, Ranatra linearis, which is also called a water scorpion, or the Germans call it a Stabwanze. They breathe underwater through the siphon tail, waiting patiently to snatch up their prey.

On the #DailyWalk, more flying birds. In this case, a pair of wood ducks. A little blurry, but the female's distinctive, white eye-ring in definitely visible.
