Focusing on the #DeclarationOfIndependence as the nation turns to its 250th anniversary, Roberts said the #founders chafed at the crown’s control of colonial courts & “corrected this flaw” by setting up a #judiciary that would operate without interference from the other branches.

Chief Justice says Constitution remains 'firm and unshaken'

Chief Justice John Roberts says that the Constitution remains a sturdy pillar for the country, a message that comes after a tumultuous year in the nation’s judicial system with pivotal Supreme Court decisions on the horizon. Roberts released his annual letter to the judiciary on Wednesday and said the nation’s founding documents remain firm and unshaken, a reference to a century-old quote from President Calvin Coolidge. It comes after a year in which some raised fears of a possible constitutional crisis amid legal pushback to President Donald Trump's agenda. The Republican administration has scored wins at the Supreme Court, though major rulings on birthright citizenship and tariffs are yet to come.

#NationalGuard troops had already left #LosAngeles after #Trump deployed them earlier this year as part of a broader crackdown on “crime” & “#immigration” [nonwhites]. They had been sent to #Chicago & #Portland but were never on the streets [though they were on “federal property”] as legal challenges played out.

"I’ve never seen a case where the government made representations to a judge that were refuted by its own internal communications. It’s exceptionally unusual for prosecutors to have to take the witness stand to defend their own conduct. But Abrego Garcia’s case, which has been highly irregular from the start, may well be the one where that happens."

A Moral Imperative: Support H.R. 2487, the Transgender Health Care Access Act

Dear Congressman, I am writing to you today to express my support for HB 2487. I believe we as Christians have a moral imperative to help those communities and groups of people who are downtrodden and looked at as less than they really are.  Transgender people are at a higher risk of severe mental health issues because of lack of proper care. We have a Christian mandate as an act of service to the vulnerable as stated in Matthew 25:40 “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the […]
