Damn... this one hurts... a lot.
Rob Grant, one of the creators of Red Dwarf passed away suddenly yesterday.
Red Dwarf is one of my all time fave shows, and the first 2 books he helped write are amongst the funniest books ever written... Up there with the Hitchhikers Guide and the Discworld series.
His collaboration with Doug Naylor on Red Dwarf cemented his place in history, and whilst his solo work never quite achieved the same levels. His work helped shape my sense of humour.
Yet I can't find a single reference to it on any of the mainstream news websites... I heard it through a friend and went looking... could only find that the wikipedia page had been updated.
What makes it doubly sad, is that he'd recently finished a new Red Dwarf novel, set to be released in July 2026, it's apparently a prequel set just before he joins the Red Dwarf crew. Titled Red Dwarf - Titan
I'll be grabbing a copy of that to read. I have the 2 'Grant Naylor' books (written with Doug Naylor that other co-creator) and both of the stand alone books they book released. This will be the first red dwarf novel in 30yrs.
