So OnlyOffice is not FOSS because of the AGPL additions that can't be met (you have to use the trademark, but aren't allowed to use the trademark). So EuroOffice can't be built legally.

LibreOffice and Collabora Office are in a fight about governance and contributions. The codebase is old.

"GNOME office" (Abiword, Gnumeric) isn't really developed anymore.

KDE Calligra Office is modern and beautiful, but lacking features.

I think I go back to LaTeX and markdown for all word processing documents. But for spreadsheets? I don't know yet. I will check Calligra Sheets, but I'm not tech savvy enough to contribute seriously.

Looked a bit deeper into the precendents of @CollaboraOffice vs @tdforg now.

Some TDF board votes seem very much biased and unfair. E.g. to invalidate Simon Phipps @webmink vote in https://community.documentfoundation.org/t/vote-adopt-version-1-of-community-bylaws/13472/8 as a "conditional" and thereby "not countable" has a very bad reek.

All he did, is to say (paraphrased): "We should not have this vote for [reasons], BUT IF WE DO PROCEED, I VOTE NO"

Still, there are only looser, no winners, a pity.

Oh what a week in office land: not only #OnlyOffice vs. #EuroOffice (don't get me started on this one).

But also #collabora, main contributor to #LibreOffice, is kicked out of #TheDocumentFoundation, which leads them focusing on #CollaboraOffice. Not an April fool's joke although it sounds exactly like (a bad) one.

I wanted to prepare my minimalist slideshow with a video slide, so decided to go more conventionally, and instead of using my beloved Obsidian/Advanced slides workflow, just use any dedicated open source app. Guess what.

Collabora on nextcloud just cant autoplay a video slide, and displays a f-ing ugly blue distorted icon stretched across the screen, which I have to click. I'm not showing this to artist community.

Onlyoffice on desktop simply dies from adding mp4 file.

Libreoffice Impress is by far the stupidest. For some reason you have to work a little by copypasting measurements to make standard fullhd video perfectly fit size and position on 16:9 slide. And then you switch to presentation mode, and the video just resizes like three times and shifts halfway of screen. I guess this has to do with dpi scaling, because apparently you cannot work with the sizes in pixels in presentation software - it only works in centimeters, inches and other real-world measurements. Fucking stupid to use centimeters for screen-based media to begin with. My ass, I bet the developers do not use it themselves. Ghrrr. Going inkscape -> interactive pdf now.

UPDATE: they are official partner of Nextcloud and don't freeride. I was wrong. Sorry.

@mischiefist It seems a company https://office.eu/ decided to resell the opensource software @nextcloud @CollaboraOffice without giving proper credit to its developers. No mention that it's opensource. Looks to me like freeriding on the investments of others.

That's not a sustainable business model.
