Even more annoyingly for #Ryman #ClickAndCollect, the manufacturer of the items concerned has its own on-line system. The manufacturer doesn't do weekends, and I picked Ryman believing all of the 'Click-and-Collect TODAY' statements on its system.

I picked a collection branch near to the relative because I needed this stuff for the relative's on-going #ShedClearance, and used the branch picker to also ensure that everything was in stock. The plan was to go to the branch in the relative's town in the afternoon and collect the Same Day stuff so that I could use it immediately in the evening.

I tested the same order in the manufacturer's system.

I could have gone to the manufacturer this morning and had the same order delivered directly to the relative's house, without the trip across town, at just £10 more total including the shipping charge, by the day after tomorrow.

I could have added in some of the other items that Ryman changed the collection date on the basket because of.

I used Click-and-Collect at #Ryman yesterday.

Throughout the process, when selecting things that I wanted to buy, looking at my on-line shopping cart, and through the checkout to my payment processor and back, Ryman assured me that I could 'Click-and-Collect TODAY'.

I even reset the basket and re-picked the items carefully so that none of them had to be back-ordered, which changed the collection date of all items.

The basket had 'TODAY' and 'In Stock' everywhere; and the dreaded banner message 'Collection will be available after all items have arrived in 3-5 working days.' that appears when an item that has to be shipped from the warehouse, was not there.

I went back and checked on the order later in the day, using the order checking form, and fulfilment is due on April the 29th.

So a 10 day wait for stuff that the Ryman on-line shopping system assured me that I'd be able to collect Same Day. (Yes, the branch I picked to collect from has Sunday opening.)

🚨 Marks & Spencer confirms a cyberattack that disrupted operations, including delays in its popular Click and Collect service.

The British retail giant — with over 1,400 stores and 64,000 employees worldwide — issued a statement through the London Stock Exchange confirming they’re managing an ongoing cybersecurity incident.

Key details:
- Some store operations were temporarily adjusted to protect customer data
- Website and mobile app remain operational
- Delays are affecting Click and Collect orders; customers are asked to wait for confirmation emails before heading to stores
- The company has engaged external cybersecurity experts
- Authorities, including the UK’s data protection office and the National Cyber Security Centre, have been notified

At this stage, no ransomware groups have claimed responsibility, but security experts warn that such silence is common early in extortion-based attacks. If ransomware is involved, there is a high likelihood of data theft — which may later be used to pressure M&S into paying a ransom.

This incident is a reminder that even mature global retailers face significant risks when it comes to supply chain and customer-facing services.

At @Efani, we believe protecting customer trust in retail starts with resilient digital operations. Every outage — especially in fulfillment — risks brand damage that no loyalty program can fix.

Primark launches Click & Collect service in Swansea

Primark says that more than three quarters (158) of its stores in Great Britain now offer the service, with all 187 stores in England, Scotland and Wales set to receive Click & Collect by this summer.

From today (16 April), customers in Swansea can now shop thousands of Primark products, including womenswear, menswear, kidswear and homeware, on the company’s website, order through Click & Collect, then pick up their items at a convenient time.

It also gives customers access to new and expanded ranges they might not otherwise be able to get in their local store.

Kari Rodgers, UK Retail Director at Primark, said: “We’re delighted to reveal the next wave of stores to offer Click & Collect, giving more customers the chance to shop online from the great ranges they know and love before collecting in store. With summer in sight, it’s just one way we’re making it even easier for everyone in Swansea to get their summer wardrobe essentials.”

Click and Collect is already available at Primark’s Llanelli store in Parc Trostre.

Primark to expand click & collect across Welsh stores

Click & Collect is now available in 131 Primark stores across England and Wales – with plans to complete the rollout to all stores in Great Britain by the summer.

As its nationwide service rollout continues, thousands of products will be available to shoppers for the first time across women’s, men’s, kidswear and homeware, as well as the retailer’s newly launched adaptive clothing range.

This latest service expansion in Wales is part of 18 new stores to join Click & Collect today, meaning the service is now available in 131 Primark stores across Great Britain.

Many customers will be able to access thousands of Primark products through Click & Collect for the first time, including across womenswear, menswear, kidswear and homeware, with shoppers ordering on the Primark website and then picking up their items at a convenient time.

It will also give more customers access to new and expanded ranges they might not otherwise be able to get in their local store. This includes Primark’s new affordable adaptive clothing range, which launched last month and features more than 40 stylish wardrobe staples for men and women.

The range has been specially designed around the needs of those living with a disability and developed in partnership with adaptive designer and disability campaigner, Victoria Jenkins.

Kari Rodgers, UK Retail Director at Primark, said:

“It’s great that even more customers in Wales will now be able to take advantage of our Click & Collect service. We know that our customers love the convenience that Click & Collect offers, as well as the opportunity to access ranges otherwise only found in larger stores.

“With the rollout now due to be complete in time for summer, we hope this will help make summer holiday shopping that little bit easier.”

Primark announced in April last year that it planned to roll out Click & Collect to all stores by the end of 2025.

The ongoing expansion of Click & Collect is just one part of Primark’s ongoing investments in its stores, as it continues to look at ways to give shoppers greater convenience and choice and more reasons to visit their local Primark store and high street.

Independent research conducted by Public First found that the retailer contributes £2.6 billion to the UK economy and supports 54,000 jobs across the country. In addition, 2.3 million people cite Primark as the main reason for visiting their high street each week, with every £10 spent at a Primark store also generating an additional £3.60 for the high street.

This means Primark supports around £1 billion of spending in other stores and £500 million in restaurants each year.
