#OTD in 2000 Dr Florence Bell died.*

She was a pioneer in DNA research. In 1938 she described the periodic nature of #DNA nucleotides as being like a 'pile of pennies'.

Her work paved the way for that of Franklin, Gosling and Wilkins.
