While recovering in Hamlet, some of the party went off to fence some loot to a local antiquarian while the party Wizard (Nicostratus) went off to seek information about the Resurrection Stone wrested from The Ghoul King.

He encountered a purple robed man outside a purple tent selling fortunes. After being whisked inside, Uncle Razz (prognosticator and snake oil salesman) examined the stone - his eyes rolled back, his voice changed and he issued a strange prophecy... #DCC #cavernsofthracia

Progress on the #dccrpg #cavernsofthracia campaign has been impeded by player availability (standard, right?) but hopefully beginning to build some momentum.

The party hiked for four days across the Island of Thracia - dodging Gnolls, animated statues, and even a ghost - from their home village of Pelagios and reached the town of Hamlet.

Hamlet is a colony town from the nearby regional power Hellentium (Byzantium-ish) centered around a castle and small harbour on the mighty River Styx.

Mein neues lokales Projekt ist ein Pop-up-Mega-Dungeon, mit dem ich in Münster vor Ort auf Tour gehen werde.

Wir werden die Caverns of Thracia und das im Open-Table-Format. D.h., jedes Mal kann eine andere Gruppe die unterirdische Anlage erkunden, die allerdings am Ende der Spielrunde wieder an die Oberfläche zurück muss. Der Vorteil ist, dass nicht alle Spieler:innen immer am Start sein müssen. Man kann auch einfach mal so mitmachen.

Gespielt wird mit OD&D-Regeln, also den Original-Dungeon & Dragons-Regeln aus dem Jahre 1974. Die sind ein wenig kautzig, aber auch irgendwie zugänglich – und eigentlich sind drei Charakterklassen ja auch genug. Ihr dürft auch als Zwerg, Halbling oder Elf in das Verlies, wenn Euch danach ist. Wir werden das alternative Kampfsystem nutzen. Gewürfelt wird also mit einem W20. Ich werde mich zudem an einigen Stellen an Swords & Wizardry orientieren (z.B. bei der Initiative). Den ganzen neumodischen Kram wie vereinfachte Rettungswürfe oder exotische Klassen gibt es aber nicht.

Mal schauen, wann und wo ich die erste Runde anbieten werde...

Kicking off Caverns of Thracia in about three weeks for my Dungeon Crawl Classics group. The recent Backerkit campaign delivered a funnel module set away from the infamous ruins, so I needed a map to help lead the players to the vicinity.

I'm not much of an artist but I think white pen on black paper turned out pretty well! (My simplified version of Goodman Games' Island of Thracia map)
