Here I am in the #bchwy4 lineup at #cameronlakefire as I need to pop into work this morning to get something. The haze you might notice around the truck in front of me is brake and tire smoke as they slammed on the brakes around the corner when they met they back of the lineup. Today is the first day of the weekday work closures on the road as they try to stabilize the slopes that were burned above. It will be a huge job. #BCWildfires #CanadaWildfires #Transportation #bcpoli

Highway 4 eastbound currently backed up nearly to Whiskey Creek store (5km?) from Cameron Lake Park. Moved as far as Little Qualicum Falls. Currently at 20 minutes since #bchwy4 junction stoplight. Wouldn't be surprised if I am still 2 movements away from going through the #CameronLakeFire zone. #CanadaDay #PortAlberni #BCPoli #BCWildfire #WestCoast #Tofino #LongBeach

Timed my journey on #bchwy4. Westbound from the stoplight at Hwy4/4A junction it was 15min to the lineup that starts just west of Cameron Lake Park (I was about 15th in line). We waited for eastbound to come through and started moving at 25min. Angel Rock @ 29min. Start of Eastbound stoppage at 31min. I ended the timer at Cathedral Grove at 35min.
Normally that entire journey would have taken about 15min. I hope they keep the weather station at Angel Rock! 🤓 😊
