Mother nature’s version of a double tap is a second wildfire at a town that was essentially burned off the map in 2021.
About the only good thing here is there are very few people impacted as most of the town has not been rebuilt yet despite all the initial hand ringing and nice words from BC politicians.

Very smoky smell in Nanaimo this morning and noticeable haze in the air. Doesn't seem to be from any local fires, so perhaps it is being drawn from fires in Washington state? Unclear.
Summer has begun a few days early, I guess. :(
New Podcast is up!
Looking at the new Environment Canada Adjusted and Homogenized Climate Data set for Port Alberni and what it means for Wildfires.
This is the full version of the abbreviated talk I gave last Wednesday at the AVTTS “When Smoke Clears" Public Forum on the Mt Underwood fire.
You can find a recording of that event in full on the AVTT youtube page.
