The camas are in full flower at the Camassia Natural Area, a small park owned by the Nature Conservancy in West Linn, OR. The trail loop is 3,000 ft over basalt and plank walkways over marshes. Tall oaks, madronas (shown here), and other trees provide cover for birds, and an osprey nests in a nearby tower.

Poison oak is abundant right along the path, so remember "leaves of three, let it be."

Camas (Camassia quamash).

I planted 200 Camas bulbs (Camassia quamash) and 50 Slimleaf Onion (Allium amplectens) in the front yard #meadow today. It went faster than I expected. I love this trowel.

I've got no idea where this came from and it's planted itself in what should be completely the wrong conditions.

Camassia prefer moist soil and this is in the driest bed. I do grow camassia in part-shade where they manage to survive my sandy soil but they are darker.
