Happy Monday from Tokyo!

Today is a bank holiday in Japan. It’s also relentlessly hot, but we went for lunch at “Sol’s Coffee Apartment”, a cafe located on the 2nd floor of a residential building a few bus stops south from our place. Croque Madame & Caffe Latte. 😋

I had free-drink tickets for "Excelsior Caffe" that were about to expire - can‘t let that happen, so we went for a cafe lunch & dessert. Also made some reading time (German version of Stieg Larsson‘s first "Millennium" book)

Today’s lunch in our neighborhood at “little bean works” in Azusawa, Itabashi Ward. Main dish was carbohydrates to the power of two, but delicious nonetheless - followed by Caffe Latte & cheesecake.

“cafe arica” in Tokiwadai, Itabashi, is a favorite Tokyo spot, and we went for a relaxed late lunch today. Main dish was Piadina, followed by a delicious Tiramisù and a great Latte. ☕️

Went to Ogawamachi for a light café lunch and a taiyaki, and then walked up to Ochanomizu, where I got a few more alcohol ink art supplies at the aptly-named “tools“ store.

Occasionally skimming Google Maps for (North) European shops in Tokyo, I recently came across a Swedish cafe in Higashi-Ōjima (Koto Ward). Last Saturday, we went there for lunch and quite liked it. The food (hot dogs and cardamom rolls) and coffee were good, and the location by the Kyunaka River is really nice.

Today’s lunchtime at one of my favorite cafes in Itabashi: “cafe arica” in Minami-Tokiwadai. Ingredients for my favorite choice, Piadina, are currently in transit from Italy, so I went with the Tagliatelle Bolognese which was delicious nonetheless. Iced Caffe Latte and Tiramisu for dessert, and a bit of reading (German version of Arto Paasilinna’s “Year of the Hare”). Life is good 😊

During last weekend’s trip to Karuizawa in Nagano Prefecture, this was the Sunday lunch spot: “Cafe Suzunone” in Kyū-Karuizawa, smack dab in the middle of the forest. Atmospheric place with pretty good food.

Went to “cafe arica” in Minami-Tokiwadai (Itabashi Ward) again today, and had the Piadina lunch set, as well as a caffe latte and their famous tiramisu (not pictured). Nice quiet and cozy place to spend some time on this cool Sunday, and do some travel planning with the wife for later this year. 😎

Having a day off today for some errands and doctors appointments, and went for lunch at “Cafe&Dining 自由自在” in our neighborhood. The owner is a very nice woman who makes a delicious and balanced variety of dishes every day, and combines them into a satisfying and reasonably priced (¥1,200) lunch set. (Insider tip: her Tamagoyaki is the best I had in Tokyo so far). Also had an iced coffee.
Now on to more errands.🚶‍♀️
