Early on day 22 of my first Japan trip in 2006, I am the only foreigner on a domestic flight from Fukuoka back to Tokyo. Wandering around Shimbashi, Asakusa and Ginza before enjoying some great night views from my hotel room window.

In the morning of day 21 of my first Japan trip in 2006, I took the Shinkansen from Hiroshima to Fukuoka. I spent most of the day around the Kawabata area, at Canal City Hakata and along the Naka River.

Day 20 of my first Japan trip in 2006 was a very rainy one. I took the ferry from Hiroshima to Miyajima where I saw Itsukushima Shrine with its famous "floating" torii gate. I felt sad about having to leave soon.

On day 19 of my first Japan trip in 2006, after breakfast at the Ryokan, I went back to Okayama and then by Shinkansen to Hiroshima. Seeing the A-Bomb Dome and the Peace Memorial Museum left a lasting impression. 🕊️

Having arrived in Osaka from Kyoto the night before, I headed outside on day 15 of my first Japan trip in 2006. It was raining heavily, so I spent a few hours at Kaiyukan Aquarium. In the evening after the rain had stopped, I took a short walk around Umeda.
