Emile is a Data JunkieQuick look at #RIPEAtlas mesh pings on 26 Jan, shows some (not all!) #Finland-#Lithuania anchor pairs saw:
* A noticeable latency increase (5-20ms extra) around 00:45UTC, in line with the reported cable cut of the LVRTC-cable around that time.
* No noticeable changes in packet loss.
Looks like another one where the Internet managed to route around damage.

Quick look at #RIPEAtlas mesh pings on 25 December, shows #Finland-#Estonia anchor pairs saw a noticeable latency increase around 16:30UTC , while #Finland-#Germany anchor pairs saw a noticeable increase around 16:45UTC

With last month’s cuts in two major Baltic Sea Internet cables now successfully repaired, and another cut having occurred in the meantime, we analyse these events and delve deeper into the question of how exactly the Internet has remained resilient.

フーシ派の船舶攻撃が続く紅海で先週、海底ケーブルが何本か切断され、アジアとヨーロッパ間のデータ通信の1/4が一時的に影響を受けた。一部ではフーシ派が故意にケーブルを狙って攻撃したとの見方もあるが、影響を受けたケーブルを使用するドイツのインターネット接続企業、DE-CIXによると、ケーブル破損はフーシ派に攻撃された船舶のいかりが沈没前に海底引きずったことで起こされたという。
プロバイダや回線業者がネットワークに十分な冗長性を持たせているため、ユーザーが影響を受けることはまずない。今回の切断は1日以内の修復されたが、海底ケーブルに対するテロ攻撃には警戒が必要と考える専門家もいる。
