From the Good Doctor to Antibes: books read in 2023 - TheSupercargo

A reading diary entry about all the books I read in 2023. The first I completed was The Good Doctor, the last was Ett År Runt Antibes.

By my count I finished 34 books this year, not counting ones read with my kids. These are 4 of my favourites, in no particular order: a biography of eccentric mathematician Paul Erdos; a self contained SFF epic about the future of religion; a fascinating look at bird intelligence; and a moving Australian sci fi story of virtual reality and the gap between those who embrace it and those who reject it #BooksOf2023 #Bookstodon @bookstodon
My kind of holiday feeling. What are you reading to end this year in style? #booklovers #BooksofMastodon #booksof2023

Just saw someone on YouTube talking about how they've read over 200 books this year. They read the last Series of Unfortunate Events books and Lord of the Rings LAST WEEK. They felt they were being stagnant and lazy because they haven't read anything in a couple of days?!

What in the internalised capitalism is this? Why are we turning reading into a productivity thing? Why are we measuring our hobbies and setting ourselves KPIs??

I'm gonna take things at my own damn place when I'm enjoying myself, thank you very much!

Powerful thought provoking reading!
Very challenging at times, with a powerful ending, not giving anything away! but food for thought for racists and bigots everywhere!
After reading so many mysteries these past few months, the final product has been announced 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

#Book 46 of 2023 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ without a doubt my favourite in the series. Did not end the way that I thought it would. Outstanding #BooksOf2023 #bookstagram 💙📚

#BooksOf2023 #19: Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt. This was a great, uplifting story about the friendship between a septuagenarian and an octopus that reads like a Fredrik Backman novel.

#Book 35 of 2023 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Not a favourite in the series but enjoyable still #Books #bookstagram #BooksOf2023

#BooksOf2023 #18: The Happy Runner by Davis and Megan Roche. This was a great little book about being a happy runner. As someone who started running more recently, the book contained some good info that I hadn’t heard before. ‬
