Antibes System storage by Boffi

Dezeen Showroom: Boffi has released Antibes System, a wall-mounted or freestanding storage system characterised by its airy, open back.

The shelving was designed by architect Piero Lissoni and CRS Boffi – the brand's research and development department.

The Antibes System can be used as a bookcase or kitchen storage solution

According to Boffi, the modular Antibes System has a "great compositional flexibility" that can accommodate a range of different items.

It can even be installed on kitchen worktops to hold larger items such as pots and pans. This is thanks to the various heights of its side panels and the differing widths of the shelves and base panels.

The shelving system can be used as a room divider

"The system allows users to create floor-to-ceiling compositions as well as freestanding ones, which must necessarily be fixed to the ceiling," said the brand.

"LED bar lighting completes the elegant architectural product."

The Antibes System is available in a range of finishes including veneered wood and matt lacquers.

Sloane door handle by Piero Lissoni for Boffi

Dezeen Showroom: architect Piero Lissoni has designed Sloane, a recessed handle for the Aprile and Programma Standard kitchen models by Italian brand Boffi.

The Sloane handle takes the form of a rectangular recessed cutout and is available for cabinets with wood and stainless steel finishes.

"The backplate of the Sloane rectangular handle can be covered in materials in contrast with the different finish of the fronts," said Boffi.

"A solid wood door, for example, can have the handle finished in the same wood or in contrast in stainless steel."

A different backing material provides contrast

Boffi suggests pairing the handle with kitchen models that do not feature handle rails on their doors such as its Aprile or Programma Standard ranges.

Combine Evolution kitchen by Piero Lissoni for Boffi

Dezeen Showroom: Italian architect Piero Lissoni has created the Combine Evolution kitchen for Boffi, uniting two islands and a dining table in one integrated design.

In the Combine Evolution kitchen, a unit containing washing and cooking functions and a unit for food preparation are connected by a big snack table made of solid wood staves.

The monolithic kitchen islands are offset by the lightness of the open-faced metal shelving that hangs overhead.

Integrated features include storage compartments with sliding lids, which sit behind the washing and preparation areas.

There is also a hidden downdraft hood, which pops up from the counter behind the cooking zone and features an integrated metal bar for hanging utensils.

Lissoni is the creative director of Boffi and Evolution is the latest version of his Combine monobloc kitchen.

The kitchen has integrated storage compartments with sliding lids

The kitchen's surfaces and doors are made of a new composite material called Material Design Innovation (MDI) that was developed by Boffi in partnership with Inalco.

It is highly resistant, non-toxic and made of 50 per cent recycled materials.
