@gracehill.bsky.social One of the biggest mistakes of my life was in high school, when I was asked in grade 10 in a new school "Why do you use big words?" and I answered something like "When I'm putting someone down"

What I did not realise until many many years later, was that what I meant by "big words" was "antidisestablishmentarianism" and what they meant by "big words' was "vocabulary".

I made zero friends in that school.
