#Palantir Pays Zero Federal #IncomeTax Despite Explosive Growth, Largely Due to #Trump Tax Law

by Matthew Gardner, February 17, 2026

"The CEO of Palantir, the tech company known for equipping #ICE with #AITools that hack into people’s phones, recently said he runs 'the first company to be completely #AntiWoke.' This week, we learned that a key part of being anti-woke is, apparently, not paying taxes.

"In its recent earnings call summarizing fiscal year 2025, a Palantir exec crowed that the company’s explosive growth and profitability for the year was 'one of the truly iconic performances in the history of corporate performance.' But the company neglected to mention one weird trick that also fueled its 2025 growth: this is the third straight year that a profitable Palantir has avoided paying even a dime of federal income tax on its earnings.

"Palantir’s annual financial report, released this week, shows the company enjoyed $1.5 billion of U.S. income and paid exactly zero federal income tax. At the 21 percent federal income tax rate profitable companies theoretically pay, Palantir should have paid $330 million.

"While the company used a variety of tax breaks to achieve this, the most obvious is the new tax break enacted by Congress at the behest of President Trump last summer. The 'One #BigBeautifulBill' allows companies to (retroactively) immediately deduct their research expenses, rather than writing them off gradually over time in line with the income generated from that research. Palantir reduced its taxes by over $400 million using this provision.

"U.S. #taxpayers are paying multiple times for the services provided by Palantir, which the Trump administration finds so valuable. First, we pay the bill for the government contracts signed with the company, for example, the deal signed in April for Palantir to provide ICE with a system to track immigrants. Then we pay again with subsidies provided through the tax code, including the $400 million for the 'research' the company has done to create these innovations in government surveillance.

"It’s not news that helping the Trump administration with its policy goals can be enormously profitable. But it’s important to recognize that Palantir’s recent success has been helped substantially by a far more pedestrian tool: handouts from American taxpayers."

Palantir Pays Zero Federal Income Tax Despite Explosive Growth, Largely Due to Trump Tax Law

Palantir reported $1.5 billion of U.S. income but paid exactly zero federal income tax in 2025. Despite explosive growth, tax breaks from the Trump tax law helped Palantir avoid paying even a dime of federal income tax on its earnings.

🚨 In addition to the enhanced ACA tax credits expiring half an hour from now, there's several OTHER awful healthcare policies which are about to go into effect starting January 1st due to either the #BigUglyBill or regulatory changes by RFK Jr & Dr. Oz: acasignups.net/25/07/30/hea...

Head's up: Over half the MAGA ...
Head's up: Over half the MAGA Murder Bill's healthcare carnage will kick in BEFORE the midterms.

Ever since the MAGA Murder Bill (officially H.R. 1, the so-called "One Big Beautiful Bill Act") was passed by Republicans in the U.S. Senate & House and signed into law by Donald Trump a few days ago, I've seen a growing conventional wisdom taking hold on social media: People keep claiming that either all, "nearly all" or at least "most of" the budget cuts & other gutting of various programs and departments won't actually kick in until after the November 2026 midterms. Now, don't get me wrong--most of those making these claims are well-intentioned; they're saying this cynically, to underscore how disingenuous Congressional Republicans are by back-loading the pain until the midterms are safely in their rearview mirrors. And, to be fair, much of the damage won't being until well after next November. Over at The New Republic, Greg Sargent has taken this thinking one step further, noting that by delaying so much of the ugliness of the new law until 2027 or beyond... Republicans know how unpopular all this will be. So they’ve structured the bill so the tax cuts land immediately, while many of the Medicaid cuts get going in 2027 and 2028. That’s meant to spare them in the midterms. But there’s a wrinkle here worth appreciating.

CMS touts Nebraska being first to launch Big Ugly Bill Medicaid work reporting requirements by misspelling the name of the state.

As of March 2025, around 72,000 Nebraska residents were enrolled in Medicaid via the ACA's expansion of the program. Last summer, after Congressional Republicans passed their Big Ugly Bill, I warned people against assuming that the gutting of Medicaid wouldn't hit until after the 2026 midterms: Over at The New Republic, Greg Sargent has taken this thinking one step further, noting that by delaying so much of the ugliness of the new law until 2027 or beyond... For Vance—perhaps the most prominent evangelist for Trumpism’s supposed promise for the working class—to have to defend all of that carnage while running for president could yet prove a form of poetic justice. Again, this is a fair statement, as far as it goes. However, while I'm not an expert on any of the non-healthcare provisions, when it comes to the sections related to healthcare policy, a whole lot of the ugly will actually hit well before the midterms.

Moving to a BHP will save the district money *and* protect a chunk residents from being subjected to the upcoming "Work Reporting Requirement" bullshit included in the #BigUglyBill... ...however, it will also move a tiny sliver of enrollees from Medicaid to the new, worse ACA subsidy formula.
