AGI - È la fregata missilistica Federico Martinengo la nave della Marina militare italiana destinata all'area di Cipro, nell'ambito dell'operazione per proteggere l'isola dagli attacchi iraniani in coordinamento con Spagna, Francia e Olanda.
La Martinengo, operativa dal 2018, si trova nella base di Taranto dopo aver partecipato alla missione europea Eunavfor Aspides nel Mar Rosso per proteggere il traffico mercantile dalle minacce Houthi. Fa parte delle Fregate europee multi-mission (denominate in Italia classe Bergamini) frutto di un progetto congiunto italo-francese.
La fregata è intitolata al contrammiraglio Federico Carlo Martinengo, caduto in combattimento davanti alle coste livornesi mentre era al comando di una vedetta antisommergibile che fu attaccata da due dragamine tedesche. La nave ha un equipaggio standard di circa 168-185 militari ed è dotata di un cannone prodiero per interdizione navale e obiettivi terrestri a lungo raggio e per il tiro antiaereo e di missili Aster 30 per la difesa aerea d'area (antiaereo e antimissile).

AGI - The missile frigate *Federico Martinengo* is the Italian Navy ship assigned to the area of Cyprus, as part of the operation to protect the island from Iranian attacks in coordination with Spain, France, and the Netherlands.
The *Martinengo*, which has been operational since 2018, is currently stationed at the base of Taranto after having participated in the European mission Eunavfor Aspides in the Red Sea to protect merchant shipping from Houthi threats. It is part of the European multi-mission frigates (known in Italy as the Bergamini class) resulting from a joint Italian-French project.
The frigate is named after Rear Admiral Federico Carlo Martinengo, who died in combat off the Livorno coast while commanding a submarine patrol boat that was attacked by two German destroyers. The ship has a standard crew of approximately 168-185 military personnel and is equipped with a gun for naval interdiction and long-range land targets, as well as anti-aircraft and missile systems including Aster 30 for area air defense (anti-aircraft and anti-missile).
