"A People Uncounted" tells the little-known Story or the Roma, commonly known as Gypsies, whose traditions have been both romanticized and vilified in popular culture.

The Roma have endured centuries of intolerance and persecution in Europe, with an estimated 500,000 of their people murdered in the Holocaust.

Inhaltliche Hinweise: Rassismus; Schilderung von Völkermord; Erwähnung aller Formen von Gewalt; drastische Aufnahmen von Polizeigewalt

„A People Uncounted” erzählt die wenig bekannte Geschichte der Roma, allgemein bekannt als Zigeuner, deren Traditionen in der Populärkultur sowohl romantisiert als auch verteufelt wurden.

Die Roma haben in Europa Jahrhunderte der Intoleranz und Verfolgung erlitten, wobei schätzungsweise 500.000 ihrer Angehörigen im Holocaust ermordet wurden.

Anhand von zeitgenössischem Filmmaterial und Archivbildern, von denen einige noch nie zuvor in einem Film zu sehen waren, dokumentiert A People Uncounted das bunte, aber schwierige Leben der Roma und die anhaltende Diskriminierung.

Am 7.12.2024 demonstrierten in Karlsruhe und Berlin insg. über 7000 Menschen gegen den Paragrafen 218 StGB.
