I like it and will use it. It's perfect for the kind of "statistics" that most people engage in, to base their skewed, biased and witless conclusions about most subjects.
HighlandLawyerAt a cafe today, saw/heard a group of teenagers using the wifi. One of them obviously went to a site with new OSA age challenge; after brief (mild) profanity, consensus of group was just to log in using parent's photo (already on phone) & date of birth. Total delay, not more than a couple of minutes, including craic among the group.

🇵🇸 Amanda@grimalkina heh, we absolutely are not. It’s funny you mention this now. Recently I was at a group dinner with a consultant to speaks to a lot of tech folk, but isn’t one himself. I told him I’m a software engineer but dislike it, and he said that “every tech person I speak to says that.” #anecData but telling indeed.
And thank you for writing that piece. I needed to see it, and a friend I shared it with said it “blew their mind clean apart”

More bits of #anecdata from what turned to be "catch up with former colleagues" day. Even the big wealthy universities and research labs are entirely up in arms.
Probably not admins quite so much, but the people who have to actually accomplish stuff. Faculty and staff and whatnot.

1/2 Last night we ran into a friend not seen in a while. Had interesting chats about lots of things, but there's one in particular I want to share. The smallish college where her sister teaches, in a 90% white city, in an R+13 district, has been absolutely derailed and fucked over by Elon Musk, and they are very worried about it. Nobody has any idea whether *any* kind of financial aid will be possible for the coming academic year, because most of the students are poor and so much of everything relies on federal funds one way or another. Nobody can make any plans, and students who have made plans can't get disbursements. Nobody even knows how long it will be until anybody has any idea when things will be stable again. So if you're waiting for the economy to collapse, good news! You might not have to wait as long as you expected! Just remember: history is very clear that the revolution can remain "just around the corner" a hell of a lot longer than any particular human can survive. OTOH, if you're the kind of person who's wondering whether enough people will sign up to fight fascism, be advised that there are a *lot* of people who may or may not sometimes vote, who are largely disengaged from politics, who are terribly misinformed about it because what little news they get comes from legacy media and facebook and so forth... And...
