It's really steep with very minor artifacts if you push it hard. Imagine a bitcrusher without the quantising artifacts.
Taking the fizz off of raw drum samples? yup yup.
Zaynyo can someone tell Deutsche Bahn to download Airwindows VST for their Live Mic announcements to finetune their brightness? It keeps hurting my ears EEEEEEE.
Use slew4(or 3 if early), smooth, or even DeBess.
and then some DeHiss, Denoise, or SoftGate.

HarmonyAfter having tried a plethora of noise gates/noise supressors, DeNoise has left me profoundly impressed!
Couldn't recommend this one enough, it's even better than Analog Obsession's Dr. Gate.
Very CPU-efficient, too (like many of Chris's plugins are)
