Thank you. Yes, indeed. As it happens I was just in chat with Sébastien yesterday. They'll give a presentation at the #Solid Practitioners Meetings on the 5th of March.

#ActivityPods is positioned to bring "app development" to the intersection of the #ActivityPub and #SolidProject ecosystems, and that is very valuable. And also an #OpenStandards focused initiative.

They are well positioned to offer the 'Solution developer' stakeholders an attractive set of tools. And the opportunity is to marriage the best of 2 worlds. I've thought a lot about the UX of image-sharing in decentralised networks. It would be good to integrate image management across gallery apps like Piwigo, file-sync apps like NextCloud, and photo-sharing in social apps. There could be a role for something like @activitypods here.

Não fazia a menor ideia da existência do projeto ActivityPods. Isso resolveria o que pra mim é um dos maiores problemas do Fediverso hoje em dia, que é exatamente a sua total descentralização, e a interação das redes não passarem de meras cópias de dados, algo realmente parecido com uma estrutura de e-mail.

Porém isso causa uma fragmentação desnecessária, algo que o Bsky consegue resolver bem com os PDS. Eu posso até criar contas diferentes para o Pixelfed e para o Mastodon, caso eu queira separar conteúdo. Porém eu não quero ser obrigado a isso. Já que a ideia são os dados fluirem livremente entre as redes e termos essa interconectividade, é muito mais interessante poder acessar com uma identidade única diferentes locais da internet. Acho que é isso que o Solid veio para resolver.

É sobre descentralizar a administração das redes, porém centralizar os dados do usuário.

Standard practice is to embed a YouTub video, but that's another DataFarm dependency we clearly have the tools to replace.
