In #sweden last week people have been boycotting big supermarkets in the country in protest against the rapidly increasing grocery prices. Some call to extend the action for 3 weeks to #boycott the biggest supermarket of the country: Ica.

Although the economic effect seems to be limited, at least it started a conversation about the prices: #consumeractivism is effective.

Swedish shoppers boycott supermarkets over ‘runaway’ food prices

With the cost of feeding a family up by an estimated £2,290, consumers, like many across Europe, are taking direct action

Interesting website giving Fortune 100 companies a grade for how they are treating democratic values. Some surprise entries (for me at least), like Tesla getting a B, and Alphabet (Google) getting an F...

Remember that the dollars they spend on lobbying are the dollars you put in these companies. By informing yourself and being an #activistconsumer you can nudge the world in your direction.

The hard part about being an #activistconsumer is that you need to stop comparing products mainly on price, but you need to start comparing based on impact. That means doing research before buying, a lot of work of you need to do that for every thing you buy.

Luckily you can start one product at a time: every weekend pick one product that you regularly buy and check if it nudges the world in the direction you want.

What product did you replace by another and why?

Angry at the #tariff threats of their southern neighbour, the #buycanadian movement is still going strong. Canadians sharing lists of Canadian alternatives to American products, and are cancelling trips to the #usa. Both already are showing some impact on US economy, #consumeractivism is effective.

I think there is a bigger opportunity here in general to start to #buylocal and support your local economy, also for non Canadians...

Are Angry Canadian Consumers a Blow for US Retail? - RetailWire

The threat of significant U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods has sparked a “buy Canadian” movement. Will U.S. brands and retailers feel much of an impact?

Consumer opinion matters, and consumer action even more: #swasticar stock has been plummeting the past few days, in part due to lower sales in key regions and consumer opinion about the brand.

Let's keep spreading our opinion then!

Fight the #tariff threats, #boycottusa
The USA has a lot of successful fast-food franchises: send a message and stop buying fast-food from #usa franchises while the tariff threats go on (and maybe #buylocal instead, or just start living healthy ;)).

A good franchise to stop buying from is #KFC . It seems they have mainly contributed to Republicans for lobbying.

If you don't like the way the #usa is now projecting power through threats with #tariffs consider stop buying American products to send a message. #BoycotUSA

The best products to boycott are from companies that have (in)directly supported the #republicans and have good alternatives. For instance consider to stop buying products from the Coca Cola Company (take a good look at your beverage's label, they sell way more brands than just #cocacola).

#croatia is en-masse boycotting retail chains and brands in order to combat the rising prices of the last few years. With effect: the government is freezing prices of 70 products and the #boycott is spreading to other countries as well.

Again an example that #consumeractivism does work. Inspired? How are you going to nudge the world in your direction?

Information is power for the #activistconsumer. For me the movie 'Seaspiracy' opened my eyes on how overfishing is impacting marine ecologies.

Only with access to the right information can you nudge the world in your direction.

What piece of knowledge raised #awareness to you, causing a change in your consumption behaviour? How did it come to your attention?

Continued #boycott does have effect: #BoycottX has caused banks planning to sell X on a loss. This might indicate that they don't see it's value recover soon. One cited cause: stagnating user numbers.

Take power back into your own hands, become an #activistconsumer . How are you planning to nudge the world in your direction? And why?
