For the 100th time, the stupid Liquid Glass interface has broken my app experience.
Bugs I've experienced since I woke up:
- Bottom of half of phone screen grayed out after a text entry box failed to clear properly
- Enlarged text on a button in an app displaying on two lines instead of one
- Blank reserved space at the bottom of the screen while viewing web pages (apparently this would be mostly clear if I hadn't needed to make the glass effect opaque because it gives me a headache, but it means the "accessibility" feature is impeding my use of the device)
- Ice Cubes glitches when my phone slips into landscape mode while I'm composing a toot. It gets stuck sideways, cut off and refusing to accept further input until I reboot the app and lose everything I've entered.
I thought this was an app problem, but I think I was wrong. It's not an isolated thing. This is an #iOS26 problem and an #Apple problem.
I hope this is why Liquid Glass execs at Apple are stepping down.
Is there a word (or hashtag) for the situation when there's a podcast about disability issues but it has no transcript?
Because I've been seeing a lot of this lately ... 🙄
(Hmm, maybe accessibility fail?)
Finally got around to finishing Chakraborty's "The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi". Good book, I absolutely loved it.
I did not, alas, love the experience of reading it as an ebook. Between some chapters there's an info-dump - well written and with interesting facts or lore, inserted by the in-book chronicler.
And those pages were created as images.
I had to read them by putting 3x magnification on my phone camera and using it as a lens over my kobo.
