Springtime snow, Pt 1.

Every year around this time the eastern cottonwood trees in the neighborhood release their millions of white-tufted seeds, which swirl in the air and gather on the sidewalks in drifts and piles, like a memory of snow. I’m not sure I’ve seen them this thick on the ground before.

Without color, nothing is left to hide behind.
Only shape, shadow, and the quiet tension of every curve remain.
The flower becomes less innocent in black and white,
as if desire itself was captured in pure contrast.
