AAPS last night voted to approve the next year's budget without amendments. This means

- reduction of 141 full time positions, including 94 teachers.
- cutting world language at Elementary
- reduction in elementary art, music, PE class time
- elimination of band co-teachers
- closing middle school pools

Low fund balance part of ‘sobering’ Ann Arbor Public Schools audit

Audit findings for the 2023 fiscal year show the district’s fund balance has fallen to $12.8 million, or 4.1% of its expenditures as of June 30.

Ann Arbor School Board has a Special Meeting tonight at 7 pm. They will be voting to approve the contract of interim superintendent Jazz Parks and picking which of three search firm to use to find a permanent superintendent. The firms that submitted proposals are:
1. Michigan Association of School Boards
2. Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates
3. McPherson & Jacobson, LLC
