Earlier today I rode down to the new Bandemer - Barton tunnel project. It was not open yet but it looked mighty near completion. I'll be very glad to have a westward extension for the Border to Border trail heading out of Ann Arbor.

The grand opening is Wednesday 2025-11-05 (this Wednesday) at 100pm

Ann Arbor has 162 parks (or maybe 163; I think they just acquired some more parkland). My count for the year so far is 142, last year was 129.

There have been people who have biked to every park in a single day! I am not one of those people.

Some city parks are hard to get to on bicycle not because of distance but because there's no good bike-friendly roads leading to them.

#AnnArbor "Visit Every Park" 2024 year in review

All visits by bicycle!

129 different parks visited over the course of 2024, starting with Graydon Park on Feb 19 and ending with Arboretum Nature Area on Oct 20.

I made it to 2570 Dexter Road Park (formerly known as "Unnamed Park #1") on Oct 12. The longest trip from home was to Marshall Nature Area in Dixboro on June 1.

There are 162 city parks, the ones I missed were on the edges of town and on the Northeast side.

My Bike Every Park 2024 list is up to 112 out of 162, picked up 5 today so far: Oakridge Nature Area, Placid Way Park, Foxfire North Park, Foxfire West Nature Area, and Dhu Varren Nature Area.

Only 50 (!) more to go, mostly in the northeast corner of town.

Field trip to Fuller Park to the Give365 office to pick up my "Visit Every Park" swag for visiting 100 parks. I have biked to each of them (the total is 102 and counting).

I was told a story of some folks who spent an entire day - 17 hours and 90+ miles - biking to all 162 parks in a single day. Now that's one way to do it!

Bike Every Park 2024

I'm up to 52 parks. On the latest round my favorites are Mushroom Park (with the crazy concrete mushrooms), Eisenhower Park (a wood-chip trail along the freeway, would be fun on a mountain bike), and Fritz Park (good for radio with a wire in the trees).

Field checked the Runnymede-Pauline Pathway (aka the Ru-Paul Pathway). Very much not ADA compatible with a rough surface and a narrow entrance on Runnymede.
