Edmonton city council election update: The recount is in! And the finishers have swapped!

Thu Parmar is now assigned 6667 votes vs Darrel Friesen (Better Edmonton) has 6040.

πŸ‘€ Thats, uh, a big switch from the initial count. That's a bigger switch than the gap in two of the other council races. Maybe more recounts to come. 😬

Some of the Edmonton city council elections have finally reached 100% of polls reporting. And we have our first guaranteed recount: 6 votes separating the top two candidates in Ward sipiwiyiniwak (southwest Edmonton).

Six vote margin out of 22,165 votes cast in that ward. I don't know what the ward-specific voter turnout was, but city wide it was 30%.

Every vote counts.

(And will be recounted, in this case, so that 6 vote margin could change quite a bit.)

Woop Knack and Rutherford (I'm in Anirniq) won (well, technically I don't think Anirniq is called but Erin is up by 10% so seems pretty likely)! That undecided vote really must've broken hard for Knack. I know the late polling was looking a little concerning but given the huge pool of undecided voters, I remained optimistic and it's nice to see I wasn't disappointed! #yeg #yegvotes

@HollyGoDarkly The polling station location seems to be a big factor. I was in and out under 10 minutes. Same for our mutual acquaintance who went just before lunchtime. Thank you for persevering. #yeg #yegvotes
