I should choose my WvW guild.
Thing is, I rarely play WvW (usually when there's some kind of special event going on), although I can get lost in it quite well if the stars are right.
I'm from Vabbi. I barely know my own server's regulars, bar a few people like Marysienka and their guild [AC]. I sometimes join their Alpine rounds, but that's it. Thing with Vabbi is that it barely escaped getting disbanded during the Big WvW Drought and ended up being the underdog all the time with Desolation, Gunnar's Hold, Piken Square being the main server we'd get teamed up with. GH (if my memory serves well) had some absolute garbage toxic community at the time, and thankfully Bombing Here Bombing There [Ez] / [TT] is no more. Years later we're in a strange situation where Vabbi is often the main name and in the last shake-up it stood alone against the other servers on the tier. As such it'd even make sense to keep the community there and for me to join them, they're functional.
During WR betas I ended up on Reaper's Corridor with some (but not all) of my main PvE guild, [TGA], who are normally Piken Square, and a few others who lead some mean offensives on EBG. One of the commanders that stands out is Zorn Des Miko. Had great fun there all two or three beta seasons. But Miko is TeamSpeak XD
[TGA] has had some unfortunate developments, in part that it's not actually a WvW guild but some of the leadership treats it as such (there are/were some small groups, including another mostly Piken guild [blub]. If we had alliances of any kind, we could have joined forces with [blub], but that's not happening. The sixth guild slot is happening.
Another thing with the guild's WvW activities is that it's (as far az European time is concerned) a morning crew, so I don't see them much even when I'm on the same server as them.
A prominent commander on the morning crew wanted to make a WvW guild in the sixth slot to aggregate both [TGA] and [blub] and other morning crew followers who want to stay together, but this was shot down as being too disruptive and potentially deadly to the otherwise mostly inactive but social guild that is [TGA]. Which it could be, splitting people's attention between two guilds where one is kinda just idling around for chat and guild hall benefits. But at the same time it's also full and like 95% of the people never set foot in WvW, so there's also no point focusing on WvW (while being unable to accommodate outsiders who want to WvW with our crew).
Gandara and another server on EU made their own "server guild" for the sixth slot that comprises various active WvW players/guilds of the server. This is practically a form of "poor man's Alliances". I heard that it has some issues with guild leaders not really wanting to give up that role to other guild leaders and such; but that rumour came from the person who acted just like that elsewhere, so... grains of salt, though believable.
And then I'm also active in the also mostly inactive but social guild [CAH] and they too have some WvW presence (in fact some are Piken too), but I've never really played together with any of them.
So that's where we are. Maybe I should talk to Miko and see if there's a spot without any obligations as I'm planning to remain an open world PvE main.
