I've been going down a Polka and Polish music rabbit hole for some reason. I grew up in a part of Texas where there were people who still listened to it. I knew kids whose grandparents didn't speak English, because they only spoke Polish, German or Czech. And were born in Texas. A coworker turned me onto Middle Eastern ensemble music in the 90s. I didn't realize until recently that there were versions of those in #Africa outside of Egypt. Discovered there is a similar musical culture in #Zanzibar. One of my favorite musical rabbit holes.
