Son and I are at Bay Area Speedcubin' 67 - San Ramon 2025 today. Food group! Nice venue. Haven’t been here before. https://www.worldcubeassociation.org/competitions/BASC67SanRamon2025

The World Cube Association governs competitions for mechanical puzzles that are operated by twisting groups of pieces, commonly known as 'twisty puzzles'. The most famous of these puzzles is the Rubik's Cube, invented by professor Rubik from Hungary. A selection of these puzzles are chosen as official events of the WCA.
We spent our Sunday in Davis for a #WorldCubeAssociation competition yesterday. It was fun! I felt comfortable helping judge more this time, since my son is much more self-reliant these days. And he did pretty well at the event.
We ran into new friends from the recent Redding competition too. I caught some pings on my #AuRADAR but only time will tell for sure. 😁
By the end of the day my emotional reserve was gone. Still recharging on Monday…
It’s time for another cubing event! This time in Carmichael, CA. Oh these early mornings! 🤣 Good luck everyone!

Yesterday we were up at oh-dark-thirty for son to attend Bay Area Speedcubin' 51 Live - SSF 2023 https://www.worldcubeassociation.org/competitions/BayAreaSpeedcubin51LiveSSF2023
It was livestreamed with commentary on the CubersLive YouTube Channel, and will surely remain for later viewing. https://www.youtube.com/@Cubers-Live

Why are we so shy about discussing our and our kids’ #neurodivergence in public? We began attending cubing events about six months ago. My #NDDAR pings a lot there. Only as a parent and I realized our kids were similar, the floodgates opened. It was nice! And the kids heard us talking and joined in a bit. No stigma or drama, but still initially hush hush.
But WHY?

My son has expanded his special interests into puzzles, especially Rubik’s cubing. He shows initiative to attend #WorldCubeAssociation events. We just attended one at #UCBerkeley today.
What really uplifts me is seeing then kids share comaraderie and excitement over cubing. They’re very cooperative and not so competitive, sharing ideas and even their cubes for others to use for the “competition.” I love their natural spirit in supporting one another.
