Eileen Rogers, a railway booking office clerk from
#Buckinghamshire, shared her family's 150-year history in the rail industry on London Northwestern Railwayβs "On The Rails" podcast. Eileen, who has worked in the industry for 30 years, grew up near
#Wolverton Station, where she now works. Her great-grandfather, Robert Johnson, began at Wolverton Works in the 1870s, followed by her grandfather Charles and father, Douglas David Johnson, who became works manager at Wolverton. Eileenβs father later built miniature steam trains for children. Eileen recalls how her father encouraged her to join the railway, leading to a fulfilling career. Returning to work at Wolverton in 2024, she feels a sense of completing the familyβs circle in the industry. The podcast also explores other long-standing
#railway family histories and highlights future opportunities through apprenticeships.
