[P] Well, this has all been something of a revelation. And, as I said, it was staring me right in the face with how the three SandWing queens are literally the Dark Triad. Wow. How did I not notice that... Well, I'll be keeping my eyes open from now on, with future books. I do have to thank Tui though for giving me such a gift of utter catharsis. Hm. I don't know what else to add beyond being flabbergasted that I missed this.

[P] Wings of Fire has always felt like a place to retreat to, a safe haven where the world can become better. I hadn't realised how much though that in Wings of Fire this is only true because neurodivergents are supplanting neurotypicals. It's fascinating that the SkyWing queen was given a neurodivergent empathy "curse" hy Scarlet (because of course Scarlet sees empathy as weakness), only for her to choose to kesp that "curse."

[P] I was too absorbed to notice this, despite it staring me in the face. Every Wings of Fire dragon PoV has represented some kind of neurodivergent personality, with the only exception being Qibli. I almost wonder if Tui has been.exploring her own experiences with neurotypical cruelty. It fascinates me how easy it is to make a case for every PoV being a type of neurodivergent personality. So, that's opened my eyes.

[P] The SandWing quesns are literally, literally representations of the Dark Triad. Blister is Machiavellianism, Blaze is Narcissism, and Burn is Antisocial Personality Disorder (Sociopathy/Psychopathy). How did I miss that???? I suppose I can only assume that I was too caught up in the world to notice. I can forgive myself for this as Tui's books are—repeatedly—neurodivergents versus neurotypical Dark Triad monsters.
