karkat has social paranoia with friends (the whole blood thing, him hovering over terezi and assuming her and dave are dating) (id make an essay about how his hyperboly trails off into detailed tangents that almost steer comepletely off from what hes talking about but i wont do that)
(and arguably because hes social) hes very impulsive and acts on instincts and cant really comprehend things well
kankri has ideas of reference and moral paranoia so he denies any issues he might have or justifies or overcompensates. he pretends to be more mature than he actually is
the ship is really trajic and brings the worst in both characters
kankri refuses to acknowledge his flaws and unpack why he likes karkat or the fact that what hes doing is wrong
karkat fucking hates it and can recognize how he feels about it but cant really understand the situation himself other than the fact he doesnt like kankri himself
