Today I received the (almost) final report ever from the fish count at the Milltown dam on the St Croix River.
In 2013, 16,677 alewife returned to the river to spawn. The next year, fish passage was restored at the Grand Falls Dam upstream.
In 2014, the first live shad in 30 years passed though.
This year 836,755 alewife have returned. Over 500 shad. And construction began this week to remove the Milltown dam. When we get out of the way, nature responds. #RiverRestoration #WildRivers #alewife
