Der ist via Toslink mit 24 Bit / 192kHz mit dem Musical Fidelity B1xi verbunden, um dessen höherwertigeren DAC nutzen zu können.

Wie viel besser das als Bluetooth mit AAC Codec klingt weiß ich noch nicht, aber kleinen Hickups von der Bluetooth Verbindung sind weg 👍

Und die Multiroom Fähigkeit könnte für den Außenbereich hier auf dem Boot interessant werden.

WiiM Pro ist angeschlossen und läuft. Die Einrichtung hat offenbart, dass der WiiM Streamer optional die Auflösung limitieren kann. Das ist prima, weil mein AV Receiver eine Grenze bei 96 kHz für Toslink hat. Kommt man darüber, hört man gar nichts mehr.

Qobuz kann diese Grenze ab und zu überschreiten, wenn die Musik in sehr hoher Auflösung vorliegt. Das sorgt dann für Stille in der Playlist, wenn man nicht vorher die maximale Auflösung in der Qobuz App eingestellt hat.

Durch den Limiter vom WiiM Streamer kann das nun nicht mehr passieren.

Und auch Plex funktioniert damit. Der LP10 hatte damit große Schwierigkeiten.

Ok, so the story thus far:

I moved from Spotify to #tidal.
Tidal Connect crashed my Marantz receiver in new and exciting ways.
I bought a #Wiim pro to fix it, surely a streamer can stream properly!

It turns out the main problem with Tidal Connect is Tidal Connect being utter garbage. The Wiim doesn't crash, but it does stop playing music at random, which is the opposite of what I want (autoplay).

Ok, but Wiim has an app (so does HEOS btw, so I guess I just wasted a lot of money). Rumor has it it works a lot better than Tidal Connect. Great. But. You log in the Wiim to the Tidal account, and guess what: I have a different Tidal account than my wife. Not only do we listen to radically different music, we also do it at the same time.

I guess I can use HEOS and she can use Wiim, but what the fuck dude? I now have a streaming device and a streaming service and it either works super poorly or doesn't support a really common scenario. We're on a family subscription!

Now what?

I just bought a #Wiim pro (because I switched from Spotify to Tidal, and while my Marantz receiver conveniently supports Tidal connect it inconveniently tends to stop working or outright crash). It connects to my receiver via an optical cable. While it does have a trigger output, I don't think my receiver uses this, so to make this convenient I have added some #homeassistant automations:

- If Wiim starts playing, turn on receiver and change the source to the Wiim.
- If Wiim stops playing (and the receiver has the Wiim as the source), turn off the receiver.
- If receiver changes source away from Wiim, if Wiim is playing, stop playing.

Honestly, I have about a dozen automations related to making sure my TV works properly with my receiver, but for something like this I know it would but the family to no end that they would have to put on music, turn on the receiver and set it to the correct source. This way, everything just works without surprises. (I hope)

Those precious times home alone when I can enjoy playing loud music in the big room 🥰

Wiim Ultra
I decided to replaced the Volumio player with an New Wiim Ulta in our bedroom this is connected to the tube amp and both are silver to match. Once connected I preformed an update and connected to my phone started using the wiim home app.

The Wiim Ultra has a really nice playback but did turn off the EQ or use flat option, Connected to Tidal and my NAS by samba pity it hasn't got NFS option b
